bride and groom couple portraits during their Royal Berkshire Hotel Wedding Photography

Royal Berkshire is a beautiful country house wedding venue just outside Ascot, surrounded by spacious lawns and elegant grounds. There are plenty of lovely settings for your wedding photos throughout the day, from the characterful interiors to relaxed outdoor portraits in the gardens. With everything in one place for the ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening celebrations, it’s a wonderful setting for your wedding day.

Wedding Photography

I’d been really looking forward to photographing this wedding! With extensive grounds, the Royal Berkshire Hotel is the perfect location for an August wedding. I learned during our pre-wedding consultation that the couple really wanted portraits next to the pond, so I was really happy that the weather was perfect for this.

Photo Tip: There are so many gorgeous spots for couple portraits at this wedding venue, so I would recommend planning a little extra time during your drinks reception so that you can really soak up the beautiful surroundings and not feel rushed.

Wedding Day Preparations

There’s plenty of space to get ready at the venue, and the bridal suite is flooded with natural light. My couples love looking back through candid photos from this time of day.

Wedding Ceremony in The Marlborough Room

The couple exchanged vows in The Marlborough Room, which featured chandeliers and a light neutral palette. The couple had chosen a black tie theme for their wedding, with timeless ivory florals. During the wedding ceremony I like get photos of guests reactions as well as key moments of the couple exchanging vows and rings.

Drinks Reception

During the drinks reception I blend in with guests and capture mainly candid, natural moments as the couple chat with friends and family.

Group Photos

If you’d like a few group photos, the drinks reception is a great time to have these. The black tie wedding theme looks great agains the lush green grounds of the venue. I feel like any colour palette would look great at this venue, but this couples theme really fitted the surrounding aesthetic.

Couple Portraits

During couple portraits, I shoot a mix of unposed, candid photos along with a few softly posed shots. The focus is on relaxed photos rather than anything too traditional.

Wedding Breakfast

Featuring disco bingo, blow up guitars and rave sticks, this wedding breakfast was full of energy and fun. There were so many fun moments to photograph during this part of the day. The party energy started at the couples arrival and kept going straight through to the first dance.

Photo Tip: There can be a natural lull between the end of the wedding breakfast and the first dance. Planning in a fun activity for guests like this couple did with their disco bingo game is loved by guests and provides for great candid photos of guests having fun.

Annabel was a great photographer at our wedding – she was not only on time (key for all of those early “getting-ready” snaps that us girls love), but she also made everyone feel so at ease throughout the day!

From the first moment we spoke to her we knew we were in good hands. The best part was that Annabel sent us a checklist of things that we should think about before we had even booked our venue (!) – the list was not only helpful in picking out what style of photos we wanted, but it pretty much helped us arrange the whole wedding day and allowed us to think about all of those little touches! I would highly recommend Annabel if you are looking for a professional, easy going and friendly photographer to take those special moment photos during your day that you don’t even notice are being taken. Thank you Annabel – we absolutely love our photos”.
