Summer wedding at North Hidden Barn, Hungerford

Venues, Weddings

Kirstin and Matt were kindly recommended to me by previous clients Jo and Neil, as they all work together as teachers. It was my first time photographing a wedding at North Hidden Barn and it’s totally tucked away in the Berkshire countryside. They only host a certain amount of weddings a year from May to September so it certainly brings that exclusivity.

Located near Hungerford and minutes from the M4 jct 14, North Hidden Barn is a private family owned dry hire venue surrounded by peaceful countryside. The rustic grade II listed barn offers a completely blank canvas, allowing couples to create a wedding that feels entirely their own. Kirstin did exactly that, bringing everything together with beautiful botanical styling and thoughtful decor. With this flexibility you can bring in your own caterers, and K & M choose to have a barbecue, just perfect for summertime.

Rustic Wedding With a Touch of Glamour

Kirstin and her bridal party got ready nearby in the charming Cottage on the Croft, Hungerford booked via Airbnb. It was the perfect relaxed setting for the morning preparations and set the tone for the day ahead. Booking a local cottage is an excellent option for West Berkshire weddings, offering a beautifully lit, calm space for those highly anticipated morning details and candid getting-ready photographs. Matt got ready in the comfort of their home in Thatcham.

Their wedding style was rustic with a touch of glamour, perfectly suited to the natural surroundings of North Hidden Barn. Both Kirstin and Matt have Scottish roots, so the groomsmen (including his two best men!) wore traditional Scottish tailoring with tartan kilts, while the bridesmaids complemented the look in elegant sage green full length dresses. Kirstin’s bridesmaid’s also helped with kind contributions of wedding cake and invitations.

Candid Wedding Photography

Candid shots work especially well at North Hidden Barn because of its relaxed countryside setting and open, informal layout.

With guests spread between the rustic barn and the surrounding fields, there are constant natural interactions to capture, from quiet conversations indoors to bursts of laughter in the courtyard!

These candid photographs help tell the real story of a wedding at North Hidden Barn, reflecting both the atmosphere of the celebration and the beauty of the West Berkshire surroundings.

Beautiful Backdrops for Berkshire Wedding Photography at North Hidden Barn

Surrounded by open fields, this venue offers so many beautiful backdrops for wedding photography. We took some time to step away for relaxed couple portraits down the country lanes and in the long summer grass, making the most of the warm light and peaceful setting. July is a truly beautiful month with everything in full bloom.

Family portraits were taken by the pretty pond giving us a beautiful natural surroundings. The weathered timber barn also makes an excellent backdrop.

As a Berkshire wedding photographer, it is always a pleasure to discover unique venues like North Hidden Barn and capture such personal and meaningful celebrations.

Annabel was a great photographer at our wedding – she was not only on time (key for all of those early “getting-ready” snaps that us girls love), but she also made everyone feel so at ease throughout the day!

From the first moment we spoke to her we knew we were in good hands. The best part was that Annabel sent us a checklist of things that we should think about before we had even booked our venue (!) – the list was not only helpful in picking out what style of photos we wanted, but it pretty much helped us arrange the whole wedding day and allowed us to think about all of those little touches! I would highly recommend Annabel if you are looking for a professional, easy going and friendly photographer to take those special moment photos during your day that you don’t even notice are being taken. Thank you Annabel – we absolutely love our photos”.
